Based on news reports of a hacking of Symantec souce code in 2006 and the publicized threats by the hacker to release this code in the immediate future, Schuyler House urges all of its customers to follow Symantec’s advice:

“At this time, Symantec recommends disabling the product until Symantec releases a final set of software updates that
resolve currently known vulnerability risks. For customers that require pcAnywhere for business critical purposes, it is
recommended that customers understand the current risks, ensure pcAnywhere 12.5 is installed, apply all relevant patches
as they are released, and follow the general security best practices discussed herein.”

Further information on this issue is available from Symantec at http://www.symantec.com/connect/sites/default/files/pcAnywhere%20Security%20Recommendations%20WP_01_23_Final.pdf
