How do I get my SchuyLab Basic, and what does it include?
So, how do you get your free SchuyLab Basic? It’s a simple process, fill out the form here and we will send you an installation disk with some simple setup instructions. The disk will include an electronic copy of our user’s manual; you may purchase a printed copy on Lulu. Set it up and begin using it. You will also receive a login to our online user forum where you may discuss any issues you encounter.

What Support can I get for SchuyLab Basic?
Access to the user forum comes with your SchuyLab Basic. If you would like more assistance than the forum provides, you are welcome to purchase support for your SchuyLab Basic for $240 a year. This will provide access to our 24/7 toll free technical support and regular upgrades. This is not required: you may use your SchuyLab Basic for free as long as you want. We hope that as SchuyLab becomes integral to the operation of your laboratory, though, you will take the logical step to assure that you will have support if you need it.

I don’t want to set it up by myself. Can I purchase installation and training?
While SchuyLab is the easiest LIS on the market to set up and use, it is nevertheless an effort to set up an LIS in your laboratory — while doing your other work. Schuyler House offers on-site installation and training of SchuyLab Basic as well as our other products. Unfortunately airplanes, hotels, and rental cars all cost money — and our employees insist on eating. So if you wish us to come to your facility to get you up and running, we will have to charge you. Given the cost of technologist time, this may still be a bargain.

But isn’t an LIS with no instrument interfaces a very limited product?
For some laboratories with very small sample volumes, SchuyLab Basic may be all they ever need; however, most laboratories will want to put one or more instruments on line. We provide a simple upgrade path to SchuyLab Instrument Manager (IM) which adds the ability to manage a single instrument, for example your chemistry or hematology analyzer. The next step is SchuyLab Lite which, while still focused on a small, single station laboratory, provides two interfaces and the ability to add more. And finally for larger or more complex laboratories, we offer SchuyLab Pro which represents our top of the line LIS. There are literally no limits with SchuyLab Pro. And you can get there one step at a time.

Can you use SchuyLab Basic for a beginning reference lab?
Although SchuyLab is the LIS of choice for many reference laboratories of all sizes, reference laboratories require capabilities such as client management and billing that are only available in SchuyLab Pro. We would suggest SchuyLab Basic to a reference laboratory only for evaluation purposes We are happy to provide the product for this purpose, along with material demonstrating the full capabilities of SchuyLab Pro.
